Norms and standards
To ensure legally compliant use in the British market, area calculations and dimensions are strictly based on established standards:
- DIN 277 (Floor areas and room volumes in construction)
- WoFlV (Living Space Ordinance)
- GIF (Society for Real Estate Research)
In which formats are the 2D plans delivered?
To ensure seamless integration into your existing workflows, we provide the data in the common industry standards:
- CAD data: DWG (for direct further processing in architecture software)
- Documents: PDF (for authorities, reports and printing)
- Image formats: JPG (for exposés and simple visualisations)
Other formats are available on request. This allows you to easily share your data with your team, even without special software.
Optional additional services: Data analysis & quantity structures
In addition to the graphical representation, we offer supplementary data-based evaluations derived directly from the digital measurement data. These are used for the precise calculation of renovation costs or detailed management:
- Detailed quantity structure: A tabular list of all relevant components and areas. This includes the exact number of rooms, specific component dimensions (windows, doors, balconies) and the calculation of wall areas.
- Room book (XLSX/PDF): A structured overview of the property and floors. In addition to the surface areas, room heights and technical elements such as radiators are also recorded here.

benefits & added value of Lumoview 2D plans
An intuitive starting point for project stakeholders
2D plans are often the intuitive introduction for many project participants. They clearly display room layouts, windows, doors, and dimensions at a glance, offering a structured overview that helps teams quickly orient themselves.
Ideal for energy consulting and renovation
Energy consultants often work with software and processes based on 2D plans. Areas, thermal insulation components or volumes can be recorded more quickly than in complex 3D models.
Standard in public authorities and trades
For grant applications, tenders, and trade planning (such as electrical, HVAC, or drywall work), traditional 2D documentation is usually required. These plans are widely accepted, well established, and fully compatible with existing industry workflows.
Easy to share and universally usable
2D plans do not require specialized software. They can be easily shared, printed, or integrated into reports and documentation. This makes them highly versatile and easy to integrate into workflows across energy consulting, regulatory processes, and construction trades.
Efficient data capture
Using the LumoScanner, we capture building data in record time—up to 2 seconds per room, even for large property portfolios—and deliver ready-to-use CAD drawings. This significantly accelerates the entire building documentation process.
Clear visualization for reliable coordination
While 3D models provide full spatial depth, 2D plans offer a clear and simplified representation. This makes them the ideal complement to a 3D model. Together, both formats support efficient and error-resistant project planning.
Use cases: who benefits from 2D plans?
Whether you are an architect, energy consultant or property manager, we offer the right 2D plan for your project thanks to the selectable detail levels. You receive digitised 2D models for planning, renovation, documentation and facility management:
Architects and specialist planners
need reliable floor plans, elevations and sections. They use 2D documents as a planning basis for digital drawing documents (DWG) for conversion, renovation and TGA planning, but also as a binding basis for building applications and approvals (DIN 277/WoFlV) and for calculating precise mass determination for tenders and service specifications. In addition, 2D plans prevent planning errors thanks to accurate existing data.
Ingenieurbüros
use our 2D plans for calculations and specialist planning in statics, structural engineering and building physics. This allows pipes, ducts and radiators to be precisely positioned in floor plans and sections, load transfers to be calculated and load-bearing structures to be evaluated. 2D plans also serve as a basis for thermal and sound insulation calculations and fire protection concepts, as well as a precise database for cost calculations and service specifications in quantity surveying.
Energy consultants and renovation planners
need structured plans for analyses and subsidy applications. These plans serve as proof of the exact areas and volumes for KfW or BAFA subsidies and provide a reliable database for calculating U-values and the current energy status for energy performance certificates. Renovation planners use the plans for renovation concepts to plan insulation measures on facades (elevations) and roof areas and to calculate the heating load, i.e. to precisely design new heating systems.
Property management companies and property managers
use overview and architectural plans for leasing, facility management and documentation. Clear floor plans with area and room overviews are used for exposés and tenant communication, as a basis for operation, maintenance and conversions, and for documentation purposes to ensure uniform inventory records for internal filing and for service providers.
Property owners, housing companies and project developers
need uniform plans for valuation, planning and portfolio management. These form the foundation for building consistent, digital building portfolios for centralised management and provide reliable floor space certificates in accordance with DIN 277 or WoFlV as a binding basis for property valuations. They also provide a basis for quick decisions on measures for redensification, renovation or conversion and support transaction processes through structured data rooms for due diligence checks.

We deliver your 2D plans in common formats, including DWG, PDF and JPG, as well as others on request.
The 2D plan is a generic term. It contains drawings that represent an object on a flat plane (x and y axes). These include floor plans, sectional plans, views (facades) and site plans.
The floor plan is a subcategory of the 2D plan. It is a specific type of 2D plan that represents a horizontal section through a building, a top view from above without a roof, so to speak, to show the room layout.
Feature 2D floor plan 2D-Plan (general)
Focus Room layout / basic structure Technical representation (general)
View Horizontal section from above Top view, side view, section
Scope One floor / room layout All (floor plan, section, view)
Relationship Part of the 2D plans Umbrella term
Sections complement the horizontal view with a vertical perspective. While the floor plan cuts through the building horizontally, a section shows the house "opened up" from top to bottom. It is essential for showing room heights, ceiling thicknesses and the construction of the roof and staircases in vertical profile.
A complete 2D floor plan usually includes the external dimensions, wall thicknesses and the dimensions and positions of windows and doors. Rooms are specified with their area in square metres, e.g. "living room". Furthermore, 2D floor plans distinguish between load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls and indicate door opening directions and stairs. In sanitary areas, fixed installations such as toilets, showers and washbasins are included. In addition, floor height and parapet height are specified for windows. Floor plans are usually created on a scale of 1:50 or 1:100.
The central basis for representation in construction drawings is DIN 1356-1. It specifies how architects and engineers must design floor plans, sections and views in a uniform manner.
A 2D view is a two-dimensional representation of a building from a specific side, i.e. the vertical representation, the side view. Unlike the floor plan, which shows the view from above, the 2D view shows the object from the side, i.e. as it would be seen by someone standing in front of it. The 2D view shows the exterior design, the shape of the roof and the position and height of windows, doors and balconies.
