Our journey: from aerospace research to building intelligence
Lumoview was born out of research conducted at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Our founders, Dr. Arne Tiddens, Dr. Silvan Siegrist, and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hoffschmidt developed the technological foundation for Lumoview during their research careers at DLR. Their expertise spans engineering, aerospace research, and optical measurement technologies.
Today, we bring high-precision imaging and sensor technologies from aerospace into the built environment. The result is a unique measurement system that captures buildings from the inside out—fast, scalable, and designed to deliver data that can be directly integrated into downstream workflows.

Governance and Data Protection
Responsible data handling is a core principle at Lumoview. We process personal data exclusively in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect it against unauthorized access.
Any transfer of data to countries outside the European Economic Area is carried out solely on the basis of Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in accordance with Article 46 GDPR.

Lumoview was founded in Cologne in 2019 as a spin-off of the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Its founders—Dr. Silvan Siegrist, Dr. Arne Tiddens, and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hoffschmidt—bring decades of experience in engineering, aerospace research, and optical measurement technologies. The company's core technology is based on high-precision imaging and sensor systems originally developed for aerospace applications and adapted for the built environment.
Approximately 85% of Europe’s building stock was constructed before 2001 and is considered energy inefficient. At the same time, only around 1% of buildings undergo deep renovation each year, partly due to the lack of reliable digital building data. An estimated 220 million buildings across the EU have outdated or no digital documentation at all. Closing this data gap with conventional methods would require enormous time and resources. Lumoview makes building digitization fast, accurate, and scalable, enabling more efficient renovation planning and accelerating the transition to a more sustainable built environment.
Three factors: speed, integration, and completeness. A room is captured in just two seconds, the data is processed automatically, and results can be delivered the same day. Through API integrations, building data can be seamlessly connected to existing customer systems and workflows. From initial surveys and renovation planning to building operation, Lumoview provides an end-to-end solution from a single source.
Today, Lumoview employs more than 30 people across its offices in Cologne and Berlin, as well as remotely throughout Europe. By the end of 2025, Lumoview had scanned and processed more than 800,000 m² of building space.
Lumoview is led by its two co-founders, Dr. Silvan Siegrist (Commercial Managing Director) and Dr. Arne Tiddens (Technical Managing Director). Co-founder Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hoffschmidt serves as Technology Advisor, while Hans Joachim Schneider supports the company as an advisor for the construction and real estate industry.
